About Me
A Bit All Over the Place
I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, where I went to school through high school before continuing on to the University of Arizona. There, I triple-majored in Computer Science, Mathematics, and East Asian Studies (Japanese Language Emphasis). I even spent a summer studying abroad at Waseda University in Tokyo, which was really cool.
After graduating, I earned a Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Southern California and afterwards worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at a startup called Lightsense Technology. That experience eventually led me back to the University of Arizona and into Optics, where I’m now pursuing a Ph.D. in Optical Sciences as part of the LOFT Lab. There my research focuses on Machine Learning and Algorithm Optimizations for large-scale optics and fabrication.
The Ryan Luu Lounge is where I share these projects, my research, and the personal side of my journey.

Master Trader - Insider Trading for the Public Good
A full-stack financial simulation platform developed during HackAZ 2025 as a joke concept. Built with trading data from CapitolTrades.com on politicians and fed into an LLM, our AI agents recommend stocks with the same financial wisdom that got your favorite celebrities into politics in the first place.
East Asian Student Language Association (EASLA)
An online student-run club for Japanese language exchange I cofounded, now has an official website I built and deployed featuring global time-zone support and an integrated Google Calendar for live and accessible scheduled sessions.
